“Where should we stop for lunch?” asked Gina.
“I feel like snack food,” Gwen replied. “Something salty. Popcorn, chips, snack mix. Something like that.”
“I’m in the mood for sweets,” Gigi said, “See any lemon cake? That’s my favorite!”
“Let’s take a closer look at the buffet. I’m in the mood for some spice. Hopefully there’s some salsa, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten some.” Gina chimed in as the three friends glided closer to the beach. “Oh, Gigi, that one over there looks like they have cake. Can’t tell for sure if it’s lemon or not.”
“Oh, let me see!” Gigi circled lower then returned to her friends. “Not lemon, but it looks like it has cream cheese frosting. It’s been forEVer since I’ve had cream cheese frosting! Looks like they also have a bunch of chips and dips, maybe we can all score at one stop. How do we want to play this?”
“We could saunter over and ask nicely,” Gwen said. “The kids are young enough that they would find it fun, yet old enough to know to share.”
Gigi rolled her eyes. “Oh yeah, right. I think the dad will chase you off so fast your head would spin. What if we take turns diving bombing them so they run?”
The three friends drifted lower and lower as Gwen and Gigi fought over the best way to get what they wanted. They didn’t notice when Gina drifted a way for a while, but when she joined them with salsa on her beak Gigi squawked and almost fell to the sand.
“Wha…how?” Gwen managed, waving her wing toward Gina who gave them a satisfied smirk.
“You two were so busy arguing that you didn’t notice the family chasing after their dog who ran off chasing George. If you’re done with your quibble, you might want to get lunch before they get back.” Gina flicked her tail at them then dove back toward the bounty spread below them, her two friends, their spat abandoned, right on her tail.
